How do i obtain the Git build?

Use the Git binary to check out the build as follows:

git clone git://github.com/inspircd/inspircd.git

IMPORTANT NOTE: This command checks out the master branch which contains active development and may often be broken or not suitable for production use. Before using trunk for anything other than to satisfy curiosity, please consult the development team on IRC. To check out the stable branch, please use this command instead:

git clone -b insp20 git://github.com/inspircd/inspircd.git

How can i contribute to Git if i am not a developer?

Simply send us a pull request against either the current master version (for features) or insp20 version (for bug fixes), and we will review it.

Where do fixes get committed?

We commit fixes to both master and the insp20 branch. This is done by merging release branches into master after a release has been made.

Which Git branch should i use?

If you are contributing a fix then you should file it against the insp20 branch. Otherwise, it should be filed against the master branch.
